How do you calibrate the battery for your sony laptop

Once the battery for sony laptop builds a memory, there is very little you can do to repair it. New, the batteries hold almost two hours of use. However, the battery to my sony computer will only hold about 40 minutes of a charge.

The drawback to the sony laptop (and a lot of the older laptops and a good number of the new laptops) is that there is not an effective system of power management. This is seen more often with cell phones, where there is a "smart chip" that manages the charging of the laptop batteries without creating a "memory" to the sony laptop battery.

I purchased a generic battery for my Sony laptop this week. However, when I installed it in my computer it would not work. An error message popped up saying my computer was going to sleep and that the sony laptop battery may be incompatible.

Customer support pointed me at the following web site: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=20440, which points out that Sony laptops are running a little software program called ISBMgr.exe that generates this error when you insert a generic battery. It appears to be the only purpose of the software, and if you disable the software the genereic battery for sony laptop works fine.

I paid about $100 for my battery, where a Sony brand equivalent would have cost $370.Sony is really exploiting its customers here.
